This classically Victorian-styled bracelet showcases a one-of-a-kind, antique brass Victorian-era button flanked by two midcentury jet glass cameos.

It seemed apt to name this necklace after the Queen herself. Drina is an abbreviation of Alexandrina, Queen Victoria’s first given name, bestowed on her in honor of her godfather, the Tsar Alexander of Russia.

The word cameo comes from Kameo, a term used in kabbalistic slang to signify a stone talisman containing magical spells. Stone cameos were carved in Greece as far back as the 3rd century BC and were very popular in ancient Rome.

Cameos enjoyed a European revival during the Renaissance and then became popular in Britain during King George III’s reign. His granddaughter Queen Victoria adored cameos, and her endorsement led them to be mass-produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
